Elena Calabrese’s approach to design is both intuitive and deeply informed, shaped by a lifelong immersion in creativity and craftsmanship. With a fashion designer mother and a contractor father, she developed an early appreciation for the balance between artistry and technical precision.

She earned a BFA from California College of the Arts and furthered her studies in Interior Design at the University of California, Berkeley before beginning her career in fashion—working at DKNY in New York City and later designing accessories throughout the Bay Area.

Bringing her multidisciplinary perspective into the world of interiors and after her first remodel in her own home in Sausalito, Elena Calabrese Studio was born.

Her work blends natural materials, refined detailing, and a layered, collected sensibility to create spaces that feel warm, elevated, chic and soulful. With an emphasis on restraint, thoughtful composition, and narrative, each project is designed to feel both timeless and expressive.

Her ongoing study of Neuroaesthetics and Bbiophilic design informs her approach, with a focus on creating environments that support well-being and foster a sense of calm, wonder, and inspiration. She designs with intention—seeking beauty in simplicity, fascination in detail, and harmony in every space.

Based in Mill Valley, California, Elena draws continual inspiration from nature, travel, music, and the rhythms of everyday life. She lives with her husband, son, three Maine Coon cats, and a German Shepherd.
