This kitchen was a complete remodel, with a new layout, ceiling, and removal of windows and added skylights. The Victorian house is a pre-Earthquake home (before 1906) in the Castro neighborhood of San Francisco. The previous kitchen was believed to be added in the 1940's, and needed some structural improvements as well as aesthetic. The main goals for this project were to give the owners a fresh new feel and a lot of storage, while also remaining a practical space. Three young children live here, hence the laminated fabric banquette seats and backs. We increased the natural wonderful light with a skylight. There is ample storage and comfortable family seating around the table, great for family meals or doing homework.
