hillside home

We like to call this "Laidback Modernism." As Elena's home, it is constantly evolving with her family's needs. The late mid-century design and organic elements create a warm and nostalgic interior. One of the biggest challenges was meeting this house's generous scale and open floor plan. A built-in bookcase finished in a high gloss spray-lacquer finish contains ample, equal-sized rectangular display nooks. It covers an entire 12-foot wall and balances out the 24-foot tall opposing wall in the Great Room built from reclaimed antique wood that features a substantial honed ledger stone fireplace. The vintage chrome rocking chair and ottoman (c. 1970) were designed by Milo Baughman, as were the pair of "barrel" swivel-chairs and velvet chrome club chairs. They were refurbished and reupholstered in luxe fabrics.
