This project consisted of a total cosmetic update of a 1950’s home. The goal was to give it a hip and comfortable feel while keeping it sensible for a family of four, 2 of whom are young children . Our first task was to darken the hardwood floors to a beautiful espresso with gray and green undertones. To compliment the floors, we painted the walls varying tones of warm grays and painted the existing cabinetry white. This modernized the space, minimized the angular separation of rooms, and meshed well with the outdoor views. We also added a built-in bench with storage, printed, graphic cushions and furniture that could stand up to young children. To further create a modern feeling for the house, we combined materials, such as raw edge elm, steel, white lacquer and graphic, yet organic prints to complete the look.
